Exmoor Pony Horses for Sale (804)
Exmoor ponies come from the British moors and wilderness. Exmoors are considered to be one of the oldest British ponies. They are rather small and stand only about 11 – 12.2 hands high. Their coats are bay, brown, and dun with black spots on the muzzle and around the eyes. Their eyelids have an extra layer of skin that protects them from the rain. Their manes and tails are mostly black and brown. Exmoor ponies are good-natured and make great riding animals for children. However, this breed is rather rare. As other types of ponies appeared in the moors, the numbers of purebred Exmoors substantially declined. These ponies are versatile. Over the years, they have been used for agricultural purposes, riding, shows, and long distance travel. There are only about 3,000 Exmoor ponies in the world today. They are mostly used as show horses and for pleasure riding. Since they are considered rare, efforts are made to preserve the population.
