Lusitano Horses for Sale (62)
Lusitano is a multi-talented horse that was developed in Spain in the 19th Century. Its ancestor is the Iberian horse. Lusitano is close to a Baroque horse since it’s pretty muscular. The number of muscles doesn’t interfere with this horse’s elegance and perfect proportions. The overall appearance of the Lusitano equine is powerful thanks to the sturdy neck and solid hindquarters. The height of this breed is about 15.2 - 16 hands high. These horses can have solid colors, including Palomino, but most of the time they are gray, bay, or chestnut. Originally, these horses were bred for the war, so they have a very cool temper. In fact, the Portuguese military and police still uses these horses for their purposes. However, mostly Lusitanos are used for equine competitions. They are very intelligent and can learn complicated dressage moves while their impressive bravery allows them to show great results in jumping. These horses are friendly and enjoy human company. Thanks to the diverse gene pool of the Lusitano equines, they are very healthy and don’t suffer from any genetic disorders.
